He went all shouty all the time first, then started the fumbling of all his lines. Labine and earlier Guza had long scenes full of dialogue. He's always been mumbly, but his sentences were still fairly clear.Īnd that was back in the day when GH had incredibly long scenes. It's not an acting technique because if you watch him in the 90's there isn't a stutter in sight. Most days it seems like Mo only has a vague idea of what his lines should be. Meanwhile, everyone at GH has to treat him like a master thespian who can do no wrong - while kissing his ring. His dialogue should have been cut back a good while ago. Those of us who see it are not making it up. In addition to all you said about his acting tics, we also get the days when he’s clearly struggling to remember his lines. I think you explained it perfectly, and it’s why I have no use for Sonny any longer, and why I’m tired of MB. I am probably not explaining this correctly, but I was watching and wondering why it felt so familiar to me and I figured out I basically have seen the scene numerous times before with numerous different characters.Īnd, that's a really well put description of what happens when they say that such and such an actor has been phoning it in for years! MB has set pieces that he pulls out & uses. The same cracking of the voice, the same whispers and stutters, the same tragic shortcomings he was dealt in life, the same watery eye- everything. Today, even though the words and scene were entirely different, he hit that exact same acting he did when he broke up with Brenda 10 years ago (obviously that was better due to Vanessa). My problem with that Sonny/Michael scene is that MB hits the same exact notes in all his emotional scenes and has for years. Sometimes you see a mellow, wise Sonny tell us about life lessons and other times you get rage Sonny. That's a really insightful take on Sonny and it's true.
